FULTON, NY – July 26, 2014 (By Dave Medler) – Defending Fulton Speedway SUNY Canton Sportsman champion and defending Industrial Tire Of CNY Sportsman Championship Series titlist Beth Schneider has served notice that she is a threat to win every race she enters as the 2014 season is about to hit the home stretch.

On Wednesday night at the Fulton Speedway Schneider won a classic battle with Todd Root for the $1,000 to-win Industrial Tire Of CNY Sportsman Championship qualifier. Saturday night Schneider started 15th and moved into second with 10-laps to go in the 35-lap feature. From almost a straightaway behind she was able to catch and pass leader Jordan Bennett with 5-laps to go. Once out front Schneider drove away for her second championship series victory of the week.

Once again the SUNY Canton Sportsman showed their strength as it took four heats and two consi’s to set the 24 car field for the 35-lap Industrial Tire Of CNY Sportsman Championship Qualifier.

James Carlson would lead the opening two-laps before Jordan Bennett took over the top-spot by a couple feet over Nick Webb on lap-three.

With 5-laps complete Bennett and Webb were in a two car breakaway race for the top-spot. Behind the top-two, Chris Hulsizer, Carlson and Mike Button fought for position just as a yellow came out for Tony Finch II who broke a drive shaft.

On the restart Webb used the top of the speedway to shoot into the lead on lap-six while behind him the racing was two and three wide with battles all over the speedway.

On lap-10 Webb was still running the top as he held around a quarter of a straightaway lead over Bennett who was looking for a way to close in. Hulsizer, Carlson and Button were still duking it out for third through fifth while behind the top-five the heavy hitters of the class were working their way forward.

A caution would come out on lap-13 that involved Jason Occhino and Taylor Lamb. Lamb suffered extensive front end damage ending his night. When the green came back out Bennett blasted back into the lead he held earlier in the race.

At the halfway point Bennett and Webb ran almost bumper to bumper for the top-spot while just behind them Hulsizer, Beth Schneider and Ronnie Davis III were in a three car fight for third through fifth.

With 10-laps to go Bennett still showed the way almost a straightaway ahead of the field. After a tough battle with Hulsizer, Davis and Webb, Schneider moved into second and took off after Bennett.

Lap after lap with Bennett running the top and Schneider the bottom, Schneider keep reeling in Bennett. With 5-laps to Schneider found the bite and speed she needed to drive by Bennett and into the lead. Over the final laps nobody had anything for Schneider as she drove away for the win. Ron Davis III came on to finish second while Jordan Bennett, Chris Hulsizer and Brandon Hagan finished third through fifth.

With Beth Schneider and Ron Davis III already having automatic redraw spots for the lucrative Industrial Tire Of CNY Sportsman Championship race during the Outlaw 200 Weekend October 3-4, third place finishing Jordan Bennett gets the spot.

After parking her Thompson Road Tavern/Schneider Bros./Muddy Paws Dog Grooming/Circle-S Stables/No.1s in victory lane Beth Schneider talked about her popular win.

“I worked my butt off for that one just like last weekend,” Beth Schneider said after starting fifteenth and running down Jordan Bennett and passing him for the win late in the race.

Schneider talked about how after she moved into second she ran down and passed Bennett in the closing laps.

“I didn’t think I had anything for Jordan (Bennett). The 06J was so fast on the top. I couldn’t stay in the same line as him and pass him. I tried something different and it worked on the bottom.”

In the 20-Lap NAPA Late Model Feature Brandon Ford would lead the opening 4-Laps before AJ Kingsley looked like he was shot out of a cannon running the top to take over the lead on lap-five. On lap-8 Tim Sears Jr. moved in on Kingsley’s back bumper. Two laps later Sears drove around Kingsley to be scored the new leader. Kingsley would challenge a couple times after a lap-11 restart, but as the second half of the race went on, Sears pulled away for the win. AJ Kingsley, Laslow Hollyfeld, Johnny Hill and Harry Halliday finished second through fifth.

Twenty-seven strong Pro Race Mod Lites filled the pit area with locals and invaders for the second night of the TUSA Regional Mod Lite Tour.

On night one at the Brewerton Speedway invader Derek Wagner out-dueled local driver Joe Isabell who has seven feature wins for the tour victory. On Saturday at the Fulton Speedway, local driver Doug Williams took the lead on lap 2 and never looked back for the popular win. Joe Isabell, Jim Bogett, Derek Wagner and Paul Klager finished second through fifth.

The largest field for the first season of the A-Verdi Storage Containers 305 Sprints signed in the pits with a dozen cars. In the 20-Lap feature Fulton Speedway regular John Cunningham showed the way as they checked out on the field winning by almost a half-a-straightaway. Mike Stelter, Gordy Button, Ray Preston and Nick Cooper finished second through fifth.

In a competitive and entertaining 15-Lap E&V Energy Novice Sportsman Feature Rylee Gill in his second ever start at the track got by Kyle Hulsizer on the last lap for the win. In a post-race weigh-in Gill and Hulsizer were light on the scales giving the win to Jon Shumway.

Chuck Powelczyk took the lead on lap-2 of the 15-Lap Hilton’s Automotive Four Cylinder Feature. Once out front Powelczyk out ran Tim Dunn for the win. Mark Johnston, Keith Zirbel and David Denova finished third through fifth.

This coming Saturday, August 2nd Regional Truck & Trailer will present a night of fast, affordable, family fun on the ‘High Banks’. On the race card will be the Tracey Road Equipment DIRTcar Modifieds, SUNY Canton Sportsman, NAPA Late Models, A-Verdi Storaqge Containers 305 Sprints, E&V Energy Novice Sportsman, Hilton’s Automotive Four Cylinders plus the Midstate Vintage Stock Car Club.
