Ron Davis III Wins Second Straight Outlaw 200 Weekend Industrial Tire of CNY Sportsman Shootout

FULTON, NY – October 1, 2017 - An impressive 110 Sportsman cars signed in the pit area that took 10 heat races, 5 consolations and 4 B-Mains to set the impressive field for the DIRTcar Sportsman Championship Series-$2,500 to-win Industrial Tire of CNY Sportsman Shootout 50.

Fulton Speedway Track Champion Ron Davis would lead the opening 7-laps until Rocky Warner on lap-8 went to the top of the speedway to drive by Davis and into the lead.

With 15-laps showing on the scoring tower Warner held a slim advantage over Davis while Dave Marcuccilli, Brad Rouse and Nick Krause raced for third through fifth.

At lap-20 Warner, Davis and Marcuccilli were in a three-car breakaway at the front of the field with Rouse and Krause still showing on the scoring tower in the top-five.

At the halfway point of the race Warner and Davis once again were in a two-car battle for the top spot as they started catching the back of the field.

With 30-laps showing on the lap counter, Warner and Davis ran side by side in heavy traffic with Marcuccilli right there ready to pounce on any mistake by the top-two.

The winning move of the race came on lap-32 when Davis made an incredible four- wide pass on the back straight by Warner and lapped cars to retake the lead.

With 10-laps to go Davis cleared traffic and opened a five-car length advantage over Marcuccilli. Warner started to fade but ran third, Todd Root and Rouse ran fourth and fifth.

Over the final laps and no yellows to slow the field down Ron Davis III was never seriously challenged the rest of the way for his second straight Outlaw 200 Weekend win. Dave Marcuccilli, Rocky Warner, Todd Root and Brad Rouse finished second through fifth.

The next races on the DIRTcar Sportsman Championship Series are during Super DIRT Week at the Oswego Speedway (October 1-8). Away from the Oswego Speedway the Sportsman Series will be in action Wednesday, October 4 at the Weedsport Speedway and Thursday, October 5 at the Brewerton Speedway.
