Rookie Brandon Carvey Dominates Tracey Road DIRTcar Modified Feature for first career win

By Hannah Doll

FULTON, NY (June 3, 2024)- Family fun and excitement filled the grandstands Saturday night at the 'Highbanks' of Fulton Speedway as fans enjoyed autograph night and side-by-side battles courtesy of Burdick Ford and Firefighters Association of the State of New York (FASNY).

Saturday night's on-track action featured many outstanding performances, including rookie Brandon Carvey's domination of the Tracey Road DIRTcar Modified 35-lap Feature, marking his first career modified win. Kyle Devendorf made a late pass to win the DOT Foods DIRTcar Sportsman race. Brennan Fitzgibbons picked up his second win of the season in the Billy Whittaker Cars and Trux Hobby Stocks. James Galarneau captured the win in the E & V Energy Novice Sportsman event with Chris Bonoffski rounding out the night with a win in the RL Cleaning 4-Cylinder Open.

Twenty-six Tracey Road Modifieds would make up the 35-lap feature, with Rich Keller and Tim Harris leading the field to the Comfort Windows Firing Point. As the green flag dropped, Keller and Harris would make contact bringing out the first Milton Cat caution of the night. The contact would relegate Harris to the back of a wrecker and Keller to the rear of the field for the restart.

The field would regroup with Andrew Ferguson and Brandon Carvey the new front row pacing the field to green. Carvey would quickly surge to the early race lead with many three and four-wide battles behind him. His lead would quickly disappear as another caution would fly on lap 2 for a multi-car pile-up in turns 3 and 4.

A series of Milton CAT cautions would plague the first eight laps of the contest but the restart on lap eight would be the final time the pace would be slowed. Carvey and Corey Barker would control the field for that final restart, with Carvey quickly regaining his advantage. Over the final 27 laps Carvey would dominate, building up a 3-second gap to clinch the win. Impressively, Andrew Buff and Remington Hamm would complete an all-rookie podium. Fourteenth place starter Billy Dunn would cross the line in 4th, with Barker nursing a battered car to an impressive fifth place finish.

After picking up the win Friday night at Brewerton Speedway, Kyle Devendorf went back-to-back in Dot Foods DIRTcar Sportsman action. Coming from the tenth starting spot, Devendorf sliced through the field with precision, then waited out a side-by-side battle for the lead between Mike Fowler and Jimmy Moyer.

A Milton CAT Caution on lap-22 would prove to be the winning ticket for Devendorf. Restarting second, Devendorf quickly snuck by Fowler and raced the final two laps to the win. Fowler crossed in second, with Zachary Buff, Moyer, and Cody Manitta rounding out the top 5.

Brennan Fitzgibbons drove a flawless race to capture the 15-lap Billy Whittaker Cars and Trux Hoby Stock Feature. Coming out of the sixth starting spot, Fitzgibbons grabbed the lead from Ron Hawker on lap-4 and cruised the rest of the way to his second win of 2024. Adam Hunt, John Pietrowicz, Shawn Doucette, and Hawker rounded out the top-5.

In a caution-filled 15-lap E & V Energy Novice Sportsman Feature, James Galarneau would hold off Cale Gareau for his first win of the season. Andrew Eaton would take the final podium position, with Matt Bukovan and Phillip Loosen rounding out the top 5.

Chris Bonoffski would pick up the 20-Lap RL Cleaning 4-Cylinder Open holding off Justin Pope and Daniel Valade for the win. Nathan Powers and Matt Kitts would cross the line in 4th and 5th.
